    ‘Celebrating Fifty Years’

    The Cadogan Hall

    To celebrate the choir’s 50th Anniversary, we are honoured to be performing this special concert in London’s magnificent Cadogan Hall and accompanied by the London Mozart Players. The centrepiece of the concert will be one of Handel’s finest and most challenging choral works, his Dixit Dominus.

    ‘Come and Sing’ at St Michaels Elmwood Road W4
    Mozart ‘Coronation Mass’

    Choir members were joined by many welcome guest singers to spend the afternoon with our Musical Director Hilary Campbell exploring this popular and accessible work.
     
    ‘..celebrated for its festive orchestration and melodic richness’.

    With welcome support from our accompanist Maria and our scholars who performed the solo parts.

    ‘The Private Mr Handel’

    To prepare for our performance of Handel’s Dixit Dominus in July, this fascinating talk by our choir member, Helen Dymond, delved behind the composer’s public image and explored his friendships, passions and personality. Helen’s talk was based on her acclaimed novel ‘Finding Handel’ , which, while based on historical facts, imagines some surprising episodes in Handel’s musical life.

    8th/12th April 2026 – Tour of Spain

    Rehearsing and performing in Salamanca Cathedral

    On this short trip to Spain we were privileged to sing to packed audiences in two glorious and ancient cathedrals in Salamanca and Valladolid, with a repertoire selected from our Spring 2026 ‘Hear my Prayer’ concert.

    This selection of sacred pieces for choir and soloist with organ accompaniment played to a packed and attentive audience, with thanks to our soloist Harriet Burns and organist Travis Baker. We will perform some of this repertoire on our tour of Spain in April.

    Mozart and Haydn

    Haydn – Missa in angustiis
    (‘Mass for troubled times’ – aka ‘Nelson Mass’)
    Mozart – Missa Brevis in C Spatzenmesse (‘Sparrow Mass’)

    These were two contrasting masses, with Mozart’s light and almost humorous ‘Sparrow Mass’, written when he was comparatively young, and Haydn’s ‘Mass in Troubled Times’ written at the peak of his career.

    ‘..a very ambitious programme beautifully conducted and executed..’

    ‘Come and Sing – Handel’s Dixit Dominus’

    This afternoon workshop was a great chance for members and guests from other choirs to explore this challenging work with Hilary and Maria. It was also useful preparation for our planned performance of it in our special 50th Anniversary Concert at the Cadogan Hall in July 2026!

    Weekend of 19/20th July 2025 – Guest choir at Southwark Cathedral


    This weekend was another opportunity for us to sing in a great historic cathedral in support of their weekend services.

    Getaway weekend at Churchill College Cambridge

    Choir members at Churchill College Cambridge

    This two-day event for members and friends was to sing and socialise! While we worked on an informal repertoire chosen by Hilary to widen our choral scope and develop our technique, we also savoured the collegiate atmosphere. Comfortable ensuite rooms and all meals were provided, together with a relaxing dinner and quiz night – and a convenient on-site bar!

    We were honoured to be invited back to York as their guest choir for the weekend services.

    2nd/3rd September 2023 – Guest Choir at Llandaff Cathedral.

    This weekend we were the guest choir at Llandaff Cathedral for their services. Besides supporting the hymns and Psalms, the works we performed included Mozart’s Missa Brevis and Ave Verum Corpus, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Vaughan Williams and Stamford, Rutter’s A Crown of Glory, Elgar’s O Hearken Thou and Howell’s Like as the Hart.
